Fartlek session on a track

Tonight we have a Kilbarchan Committee Training Seminar to go to which means I can't do the session with the club.  So I decided to do it as lunchtime.  To mkae it a bit different I decided to run down to Nether Craigs Athletics Track and do the session round the track.  I was also interested to see how the Suunto would record the distance round a track.

Here is the map of my run ....

My legs were feeling a bit tired after my weekend runs and my thigh was still a bit sore. I decided to run to the track and see how I felt and decide then whether I did the session or not.  By the time I got there I felt okay so I went for it.

I had to work hard but that's the idea of these speed sessions! It was fun running round the track as it gives you a quick marker at how you are doing.  Here are my stats for the session ...

I did feel I was struggling a bit to really push the pace. It's always a lot harder doing these session on your own with no-one to chase or someone chasing you!

My heart rate was fairly high for the session so I was working hard! I'm glad I have a day off tomorrow. I need it!
As I was runing round the track the Suunto regularly showed 0.24mile per lap rather than the 0.25 it should record.  Once I got home and downloaded the file I can see why. The trace has me running on the grass on the inside of the track hence the under read.So I probably ran nearer 4.56miles which makes me feel a bit better!!
